About Me
My name is Dr. Murdo James Macleod. I'm a former researcher at Greater Good Technologies, and currently I live in Oklahoma, central to Garfield county. I'm a qualified biologist, and completed my BSc in Environmental Science in September 2015. Some regard me as a prodigy, but I tend to gravitate towards "social outcast forced to learn," since crying was the alternative. In this time, I co-authored my first book on soil fertility and various other factors affecting plant growth.
I was born May 19th, 1999 in Inverness, Scotland at the age of 0 and lived there until I was 16. I started my apprenticeship a year before with the Glasgow (you say it like GLAZ-go, not GLASS-cow, for any Yankee dolts who think they're culturally compotent) branch of Greater Good Technologies in December 2014, a year before completing my degree. During University, I co-authored another textbook and authored my third book completely independently. And I didn't even need my stabilizers.
My placement begun the week I finished university, and I was shipped off to their Houston HQ. I worked with GGT for nine years and published six more pieces before leaving my work in January of 2024. At the time, I was investigating a minor anomaly in the breeding patterns of mosquitos in the northern Oklahoma countryside. GGT had ever-so-graciously provided me with a luxury two-storey log cabin and two-point-five square miles of my very own land. Following my self-destructive termination of employment, GGT has made no effort (at least that I'm aware of) to strip me of my home here in Oklahoma.
While GGT did make me sign an NDA upon my departure, re-reading the legal notes tells me that I'm not actually obliged in any way, shape or form to withold the fact that an NDA does, in fact, exist. Do with that what you may.
Education
I had a slightly unusual experience with education. I completed primary school between 2003 and 2006, finishing the full seven-year curriculum in three years. I was a very curious child, and fortunately my teachers were patient enough to let me work at my own pace.
I began secondary education in 2006 and progressed through the Scottish school system rather quickly. After a series of assessments, I was allowed to move through certain stages of the curriculum faster than usual. I won't pretend I found this completely normal at the time, but it did save everyone a great deal of repetition.
During my final year of school, I participated in a blended programme which allowed me to complete my Advanced Highers while also attending introductory university lectures and laboratory sessions. It was a useful arrangement, although I suspect my teachers were just as relieved as I was when I finally moved on to higher education.
I completed my secondary education in 2011 and began studying Environmental Science at university in 2012. My research interests focused primarily on ecology, wildlife behaviour, conservation, and the relationships between organisms and their environments.
I completed my BSc in Environmental Science alongside accelerated doctoral studies in 2015. Shortly afterwards, I relocated to Houston, Texas, where I began working full-time with Greater Good Technologies on environmental and biological research projects.
My time with Greater Good Technologies was, for the most part, incredibly valuable. I was fortunate to work alongside talented researchers and contribute to projects that I remain proud of. Eventually, however, my role became rather different from what it had originally been. Research changes, companies change, and sometimes the direction you are travelling in changes without asking your permission.
I left Greater Good Technologies in 2024 and now continue my work independently from Northern Oklahoma, where my research has become considerably less structured, but perhaps a little more interesting.
